WORKSHOP I
Friday, February 12 - 8:15PM - 9:30PM
Title Face Painting 1-0-1
Instructor Vivian McArthur
Description No experience required! This demonstration class will show you how to produce simple, but high quality face painting designs.  You will learn about products, tools and additional supplies; about basic brush strokes and application using a sponge; a few favorite cheek art designs for boys and girls, and more impressive designs as time allows.



Title Keep It Under Your Hat
Instructor Doug Anderson
Description This lecture is designed to allow magicians to still perform ‘miracles’ even if you don’t have your props with you.  Using simple objects found around the house or office, you will always be prepared for an impromptu show.  Doug performs and then teaches with a detailed explanation of each effect.



Title Walk Arounds
Instructor Tony Jones
Description This is a unique look at how to be a roaming entertainer with bigger than life props and small pocket tricks.  Tony will share his experience from many years of working the crowds and give you ideas for using props to be a successful strolling entertainer.



Title Clowning Around at the Hospital
Instructor Bob Gardner
Description You have just a few minutes to share a laugh and some smiles with a stressed person in a stressful situation, without doing anything that even comes close to breaking one of the rules, spreads germs, or requires a call to security or the legal department!  So, how do you make this all happen you might ask?  This class will give you many ideas and pointers gained from experience as a hospital .

Instructor Brenda Marshal
Description Developing a clown character is probably the most difficult, most overlooked and yet the most important part of being a clown. Get some tips, ideas, and exercises for finding the clown in you!



Title Basic Balloons
Instructor Will Channon
Description Learn how to make balloon characters using the basic twist and balloons of different sizes (260s, 160s, 350s, 646s, 5” round, heart shaped, and bee body).  Sculptures will include the dog, giraffe, sword, butterfly, flower, apple, heart, bear, and different hats.



Title Easter's On It's Way (Intermediate Balloons)
Instructor Don Keck
Description Learn Easter balloon creations that will enhance your repertoire and WOW your audience!  This is a hands-on class for intermediate level twisters, so bring your own balloons, pump, and imagination.



Title Easy Magic For Children's Church
Instructor Dave Hill
Description Magical effects that virtually work themselves while you teach Biblical object lessons.  Great for VBS story time!



Title Face Painting Designs for Girls
Instructor Terrie Basko
Description Learn how to use sponging and blending techniques as well as stroke work with various brushes to produce designs for girls including butterflies (full face and cheek), a butterfly princess, Mardi Gras face, a cheetah, a rose princess, and a teddy bear. Bring your own paints and a partner or practice pad if you would like to follow along.

Instructor Tony Jones
Description This class will give you an overview of what’s right and wrong in clown costuming.  Learn how to accessorize your existing costume to improve your clown look or how to put together a costume on a limited budget without looking cheap!  Learn how all of this comes together for clowning in the real world.



Title Gospel Story Telling
Instructor Forts/Rileys
Description This class will teach you how to use objects from around the house, illusions, balloons, props, and books to tell exciting stories that point others to Christ.



Title Using Props for Moans, Groans & Laughter
Instructor JT Sikes
Description See a collection of inexpensive items to get the audience going.  This class will give you information you can use immediately.



Title Basic Juggling
Instructor Tom Toombs
Description Learn to juggle three balls in a step-by-step workshop.  Juggling scarves and other objects will also be demonstrated and practiced.



Title How to Get Your Big Foot in the Door! -
Start A Program
Instructor Jane/Dana Abendschein
Description This class is for those who may be considering starting a caring clown program in a hospital or nursing home. We will help you answer questions including; should I be a volunteer or get paid, who should I talk to first at the facility, and how often should I go? They will also provide you with a sample proposal that you can modify to meet your needs.



Title Balloon Entertainment
Instructor Wayne Gillman
Description This class will discuss the three key elements of entertainment.  In addition, Wayne will share tried and true techniques for dealing with long lines, plus 50 one-liners.  You will not twist balloons in this class, but you should know how to make the basic sculptures.

Postcards, Stickers & More
Instructor Doug Anderson
Description McDonald’s is arguably the most well-known fast food restaurant, yet they continue to spend billions on advertising. Why?  Learn from the pros and learn to advertise.  This lecture focuses mainly on websites and their effectiveness and, most importantly, why YOU should have a website…even in ministry!



Title Fun and Games with Balloons
Instructor Dave Hill
Description No twisting skill required!  Fun and easy activities with balloons.  Great for VBS or any children’s event.



Title Face Painting Designs for Boys

Description Learn sponging and blending techniques as well as stroke work with various brushes to produce designs on the face or hand of boys including a dragon, Batman, and a spider (full face and cheek). Bring your own paints and a partner or practice pad if you want to follow along.

Description Clowns that can react spontaneously in a crowd draw and hold attention, but improvisation takes practice.  Tony will show you some fun exercises to make your mind think faster and to develop the ability to react to situations.  This is pure FUN!



Title Hats and Multiples
(Intermediate Balloons)
Instructor Jackie Barrett
Description A variety of hats and multi-balloon creations using different types, shapes, and sizes of balloons will be demonstrated in this class for intermediate twisters. Bring your own balloons, pump, and imagination to create!



Title Wrinkles Won't Rub Off...
Nursing Home Clowning
Instructor JT Sikes
Description This is one of the most rewarding forms of clowning. Your audience always seems to be thrilled with your visit.  Bubba will share 20 years of experience of clowning for our seniors.

Description We all assume that everyone loves a clown, but wait, there may be some who would like to do more than pull off your nose or stomp on your feet!  Learn how to recognize behaviors of aggressors, warning signs of an impending assault, and what to do about it to keep yourself safe.



Title Stick With Me

Description Come and learn how to interpret songs with dowel rods and creative movement. This will add a whole new dimension to your clown ministry.



Title Clown Expression
Instructor Angel Contreras
Description This interactive class shows how animated cartoons are wonderful resources for clown character development, skit blocking, and comedic timing.  Be a ‘Saturday morning cartoon kid’ again as you view some classic cartoons, look at the cartoon through the eyes of a clown, and learn what the cartoon teaches you about character creativity and movement.  This is a participation class, so get ready to have fun!

Description Learn how to do several skits that will fit into any ministry program.  Each will be demonstrated and discussed.



Title All Dressed Up and No Place to Go

Description This class will teach five Biblical principles that will equip your ministry to launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch (Luke 5.4).

Description Where do you get your ideas for clowning?  This is the question asked most often!  This class will give you some ideas for looking at the world around you through the eyes of a clown. And, you will see how easy it is to start a brainstorm file of your own!



Title Modern Testimony in Modern Times
Instructor Doug Anderson
Description Do you still wear a zoot suit? Make calls from a rotary dial phone? In normal, everyday conversation, do you still say “wouldst thou enjoin us in a bit of respite”, or do you say “wanna join us for lunch”? Serving the God of all ages doesn’t mean we must quote His Word in Latin or even in the King James English. Doug has a unique perspective and in this lecture/workshop, he shares tips, ideas, and more on creatively (and accurately) sharing the gospel.
